College Achieve Paterson Earns Two Prestigious Statewide Awards for Excellence in Education and Student Leadership

Two exceptional leaders from College Achieve Paterson Charter School have been honored through the prestigious New Jersey Department of Education Governor’s Educator of the Year Program, recognizing their dedication, leadership, and impact on student success.

Peter Truax, a middle school mathematics teacher at the Ellison Street Campus, has been named “Educator of the Year,” while Michael Long, Dean of Climate and Culture at the Market Street Campus, has earned the title of “Educational Services Professional of the Year.”

The Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) Program celebrates educators and Educational Services Professionals across New Jersey who demonstrate excellence in leadership, innovation, and commitment to helping students achieve success both academically and personally.

Mr. Truax has been recognized for his outstanding work in mathematics instruction, student engagement, and his ability to inspire middle school scholars to excel in the classroom. Through innovative teaching strategies and a deep commitment to student growth, he has become a respected leader within the school community.

Mr. Long’s recognition highlights his dedication to building a positive school culture and fostering strong relationships with students, staff, and families. As Dean of Climate and Culture, he has played a vital role in promoting student support, accountability, and an environment where scholars feel encouraged to thrive.

School leaders and staff throughout the College Achieve Paterson community expressed pride in both honorees, recognizing the lasting impact they continue to make each day.
